Yalennis started her insurance career as a CSR in personal lines and quickly found she wanted to learn more about the industry. She was interested in commercial lines and earned a “Top Sales Executive” award in no time. Yalennis then teamed up with a senior level broker and launched Gettis Bernal & Associates. The years she spent there were the most influential in her career giving her the opportunity to understand the business inside and out and prepared her for the role she holds today. While her position is in sales, Yalennis has also worked in underwriting giving her a well-rounded perspective of her clients’ risks and their unique needs.
What would you like to be famous for?
I honestly wouldn’t want to be famous, I would love to be remembered by my loved ones as a loving, compassionate, and hardworking person.
You’re happiest when…
I’m happiest when I spend time with my two beautiful daughters and my husband. My oldest daughter is a member of the Thespian Club and my youngest plays softball. Watching them grow and follow their passions makes me happy.
If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?
Well that depends on which island. Is it a deserted island or the Bahamas? On the deserted Island I would bring a knife, lighter and fresh water. If I was stuck in the Bahamas, I would probably bring a towel, bathing suit, and a Piña Colada. LOL!
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most and why?
I enjoy providing our rental clients with valuable knowledge and access to programs that will allow them to grow their business. Many clients have expressed how happy they are that we are able to assist them when other companies have turned them away or have told them they can’t help them. This brings me enormous satisfaction and pride in what I do.
How do you define success?
I believe success is subjective and my views on success are very simple. Being a second generation Cuban American and growing up in a poor household, I believe success is achieved when you are able to provide financial stability to your family.
